And since there aren't many other cars on the road, most of the time I'll set the car on cruise control and let my thoughts and prayers wander.
Tonight, as I was returning home, I had a couple of thoughts:
Thought #1: My heart for some reason, still places a value, wether big or small, on sin. If I didn't value it, I wouldn't waste my time on it... right? (Thanks Bill Johnson)
So what needs to happen? The value I place on God, His Word and His desires MUST be greater than the value I place on anything else.
Thought #2: The girl who is starving for attention will dress, eat, behave, speak and live in a way that tries to attract the guys.
The guy who is starving for love and respect will do the same to attract the girls.
They probably won't admit to it, but it's a subconscious act.
As humans, we change to attract what we think we lack.
In the same way, the heart that is starving for intimacy and more of God, will naturally conform everything about itself to attract His presence!
It becomes a subconscious choice. "What ever it takes" is no longer said through clenched teeth, but is an effortless response of the starving soul.
Isn't that amazing? We naturally try to attract what ever we are longing for, without even thinking about it!
Conclusion:
So my challenge for us, including myself, is to "give careful thought to your ways" (Haggai 1:7-8),
What do you value? What are you starving for? Is it for more of Him? Do we find ourselves attracting His presence? or are we still waisting time placing value on the things that can't and won't satisfy?
If it's hard to tell, take a look at what do you prioritise; that's usually a good indicator :)
May our lives attract more and more of the presence of God! May we become image bearers!
